If the camera is missing, please check the connection between your computer and your HUE camera carefully. The camera should be firmly pushed into its base. If the camera is showing up correctly in the System Information screen, it should be available in all of your other camera applications such as Skype, FaceTime and Photo Booth. In normal use, all HUE cameras are designed to capture images in the correct orientation if they are positioned at the bottom of the document as shown in the picture below.
This is because HUE is intended to be a multipurpose camera, serving as a document camera, webcam and presentation device. The HUE camera does not flip or mirror the video itself ; what you see on-screen should normally be exactly as shown in the picture.
Some versions of Skype and Google Meet Hangouts flip the local preview image but your callers will still see the video the correct way round. Some offline applications such as Photo Booth always display the image mirrored and have no option to change this. HUE Intuition has options for flipping the live video in the Document Camera tab, while HUE Camera Viewer has buttons to do the same at the bottom of the Document Camera toolbox section located on the right side of the window.
You can also share the view from your local software in many video conferencing apps using screen sharing. There are tutorials available for Blackboard and Zoom. At this time it appears that the rotation feature is limited to the Windows version of Zoom; please contact Zoom directly if this affects you.
In those cases, third party applications such as ManyCam or SplitCam Windows-only can be installed to access additional controls. Windows 11 has introduced a new feature to change the default video orientation in all of your apps at once.
If you are using an earlier version of Windows, you will need to change the video orientation in one of the third party applications listed above. You will be able to adjust your default rotation as shown in the screenshot below. On macOS, iGlasses can also be used to flip and mirror the live video in most applications, including third party video conferencing tools. Apple have not yet added a feature to override the camera settings system-wide.
Please note that we cannot offer support for third party tools ourselves, though we can confirm that the ones listed above will work with HUE. The older versions need to be activated before use. If you purchased the software online or have activated the software previously, the license key will be shown in the License Keys section of your online HUE account.

HUE Intuition needs to be able to access its temporary video file on your computer in order to record. We recommend leaving the default recording location settings as they are unless you need to configure them manually. If your software is crashing when you try to record a video, or the Record button is no longer working, please check that the location for your temporary video file in the Settings tab is accessible. A good way to test this is to create a brand new folder on your Desktop and then set the temporary video file setting to use that instead.
If it works with the new folder, there may be a problem with the previous location. For long recordings, the video file may become quite large. When you export a finished video from within HUE Intuition, it is converted into a more compressed format and saved to your computer according to your instructions. The temporary file is automatically deleted if a new video is recorded or when HUE Intuition is closed. It is not intended to be accessed and cannot be retrieved within HUE Intuition after deletion.
Note: If the camera is still not recognized then click the Secure label next to the website address in the top left of the browser window. Then click Site settings and allow the Camera and Microphone. On some older versions of Chrome, the Site settings area is called Content settings.
We recommend checking that your browser is up to date before using the software. The myCreate app has a similar look and feel to the HUE Animation software, without the full set of editing capabilities. Movies can be created with the app, exported to a movie file and then imported into HUE Animation for final editing. At the moment, our myCreate app works with iOS 6. You can view the latest system requirements and download the app directly from the store here. Earlier versions of myCreate required you to manually adjust the privacy permissions in order to export your video.
However, we have since released an updated version which automatically prompts you to allow myCreate to access your photos. Please update to the latest version of myCreate through the app store to resolve this issue. When sharing a video via social media channels and email, iOS currently reduces the video quality to make it smaller and easier to transmit.
If you would like to work with the original high definition version of the video, you will need to export the video to your albums from myCreate and then transfer the movie from your albums to your computer directly.
There was a bug in myCreate 2. Apple currently does not allow external USB video cameras to stream to the iPad even if you purchase a camera connector kit, so at this time this is not possible. If you are wanting to use myCreate on the iPad, the camera built into the iPad 2 or 3 can be used — no additional camera is required!
